self harm releases endorphins a chemical that is calming and addictive and also some people feel they need to be punished so it makes them feel better but only for a little while before they get upset again

it makes you feel better because when you begin to focus on the physical pain it helps the emotional and mental pain to be less painful and more bearable

It feels like all of these emotions are like a current under your skin, and you cut to let them out. Yet, they come back every time.

It makes me feel like I'm for once controlling the pain in my life, not others. It also makes the numbness go away.

You let all your feelings out without breaking objects or harming someone else, you feel like you're guilty and responsable for your own mistakes and you think that it is your fault, so harming yourself is the best thing to do without appearing like an egoist... To feel how you let it all out, to really feel it, seems to help in this moment but it doesn't,soon, the pain is right back and maybe you feel anger, maybe afterwards, you even feel worse than before and bad for harming yourself, for failing, for not being able deal with your problems, then you feel so wortheless that you fall deeper and deeper and it gets worse and worse, the only way out could be to quit doing it but this would be so difficult, it almost seems impossible but with loving and helping people on your side you are able to succeed because you're a wonderful human being and you're so worth it!

Mental pain usually hurts more than physical pain. In my opinion, self-harm makes someone feel better because the cuts you inflict on yourself is able to distract you from the aching pain your truly feeling inside, emotionally and mentally. Though, there are better ways to solve these issues.

Self harm makes me feel better because it makes me feel like I can take control of some aspect of my life. When everything else in my life and my head is messed up, self harming makes me feel calm and collected, because I know that this is something I can control; I can control how many times I do it. It's up to me, not anyone else.

When I self-harm, the guilt or the pain releases, it's like i'm being punished. Both emotionally and physically, the more I self-harm, the less I think about how awful my life is capable of strangling me. The pain goes away and it's addictive, like those puzzle games i'm fonded. Weird but, it helps me to move on a bit and ease my emotions.
