It is the outcome of broken blood vessels and inflammation. In fact, this process will always take place in the initial phase of a scar. The skin area that is damaged will signal out signs to our bodies to send in blood flow to assist in the healing process. The unit of this new blood flow is created by sudden development of new blood vessels for the purpose of delivering nutrients and growths elements to the damaged area. This can cause a purple or red color.

it turns purple because some blood dies because of the lack in oxygen while healing that part..it hurts because it's an infection, but the white blood cells fix it..

Some wounds turn purple as a direct result of broken blood vessels similar to a bruise. Your body is sending inflammation chemicals to the site of the wound to try and speed up the healing process. Generally speaking, scars need 18-24 months to heal optimally.

I see them as a sign of healing. For a wound to heal it first gets worse that before. So it turns from red to purple. It becomes darker and looks more serious. However, in reality the body is healing itself. It needs to go through a process and we should be patient at this time and give this time to ourselves because we deserve to heal. But, the good part is that it eventually fades away with time no matter how dark purple it gets at first. It all goes away and it all falls into place. So wounds turning purple is a sign that we are on the way towards healing.

Some wounds turn purple because of the scar tissue that's building up. In other cases though it can be a sign of infection.

It's just part of healing. If it's temporary and the injury is very new, it may be a form of bruising. If it's an older scar it may be related to size of injury and/or the way it healed. I don't have any reason to believe a purple scar is a problem, but if you are worried about it do talk to a doctor. They can best evaluate your specific injury and guide you to the best treatment.

"This may be due to bruising of skin which may occur after trauma to the skin. The blood under the skin which causes the discoloration of bruising should be totally reabsorbed by the body in three weeks or less.
If the symptoms persist for a long time, then it may be due to formation of hematoma because of blood trapped in tissues. This blood may need to be drained. "
I found this on a website that has doctors reply to medical questions. Hope it helps!!

because of the accumulation of blood under the newly formed skin. Sometimes, skin reforms over a wound but the blood vessels arent completely reformed yet, so blood accumulates.

That is because they might be bruised or lacking oxygen. It is pretty uncommon for wounds to be lacking oxygen because the blood rushes to clot there, but they can definitely be bruised in some cases.
