Depending on how old your scars are it's possible they're still 'knitting' under the skin. Knitting is one of the last parts of healing where your body is reforming flesh, and depending on where your scar is, it can really itch! If you have any other symptoms like swelling or redness you might be fighting an infection so it's worth getting it checked out. Try to avoid itching it though, you'll disrupt any healing and risk reopenning the wound!

I've wondered that too. That is a good question. I thought it was in my head, honestly. Wish I knew.

Your scars may tend to itch if they are not fully healed yet, after a while, however, this should stop, and hopefully they will fade :D

This is mainly to do with still having some urges in my experience, but sometimes its just to do with the skin healing and is a natural thing

It depends on whether you're talking about a mental itch or a physical itch. Sometimes, scars itch "mentally" when you get an urge to hurt yourself again. If they actually itch, it's possible that they're starting to heal completely, which WILL itch, or that they're infected, which you can probably tell by looking at it. Whether your scars itch or they don't, stay strong :)

Since there are no nerves in scars, only nerve endings surrounding them, sometimes stretching of the scarred tissue next to the normal tissue will stimulate the nerve endings, which may lead to an itching sensation. It is not dangerous and completely normal.

Sometimes the scars itch because they are still fresh and new. Sometimes they just itch because they are the deepest cut. Sometimes it itches because...you miss doing it. But like the scars, the "urge" to do it fades away during some time and it will heal almost invisibly like it wasn't there before. There are many reasons why our scars itches, be it physically, emotionally, or mentally. But despite the waves of the biggest "itches", there should still be a will to not scratch it to make it worse. It will fade away and it will be okay.

Your scars still itch because while the skin has mostly healed, the nerves have a long way to go. Nerves regenerate very slowly and as they heal themselves, the ends tickle or itch. It is just the messages from your brain, which are like little electric impulses, going a little further down the line of the nerve.

they may not have healed all the way, or all that well. the itching could also be subconscious, but it feels as though it is prominent.

So that you wont forget about their existence and why they are there.
Ignoring them would mean that you did not learn anything from them, and that can be fatal.
