Doing something that hurts you physically, mentally, or emotionally. Using sex to substitute sad emotions, and regretting it afterwards, can be self-harming just as much as cutting can. Self-harm is when you knowingly sabotage yourself to replace your feelings.

Self harm occurs when the person feel unhappy and have no hopes for their future.
Have you ever seen anyone who is happy that self- harm? No, right.
So the point is to make yourself happy and work for future plans.
Happiness in reality is nothing like what books or movies always depict: find true love, go adventure, find interesting things to do.
Happiness is only on the basic thing: study, then work to earn money to buy great clothes, food, cars , houses, go travel around the world.
Please don't think it's too materialistics.
It's the easiest and instant happy things you can do for yourself.
Furthermore, when you have more than enough money, you can use the money to help people.
Have you ever seen any philanthropist who is poor ? No, right?
They are philanthropist because they have money to buy food and shelters for the poor.
Now you have your future plan: earning money, to help yourself and help others.

Self-harm varies widely from person to person. The most recognized self-harm is cutting, however, harming yourself in any way should be considered self-harm. Burning, hitting, stabbing, and even diet restriction should all be considered self-harm because the individual is in control of these actions and they are causing harm to themselves by participating in this behavior.

Any injury one inflicts upon themselves. It can be a paper cut, a burn, a scratch, bruises, a cut, etc. It constitutes as self-harm so long as it is an injury that is inflicted intentionally, rather than by accident.
