Cutting can give an euphoric effect, that's part of the reason it can distract us from whatever stress or emotional pain we're feeling before doing it, and part of the reason it can be so addictive. Don't worry about feeling this way, it's normal to feel a kind of high afterwards, but I do hope you can talk to someone in your life or here at 7 Cups before you do cut. Maybe we can find a better way to get past how you're feeling, or maybe we can provide a distraction to help get you through it.

It is normal to feel high after cutting because your body releases a "feel good" chemical called endorphins

Yes, it is. You have the feeling of being "high" after cutting. You are releasing the stress and pent up emotions that you have been holding in, and the cutting has released these so you tend to feel absolutely amazing.

Yes, it's normal. Some people do it to feel alive, to feel relief. To not feel the emotional pain, so they take it out on their bodies. It's really normal, because you feel relieved. I feel relieved when I used drugs, and when I've cut also.

Yes, sort of. Cutting yourself releases endorphins which do make you "feel good" so feeling some sort of high after cutting yourself is normal.

Yes it is normal feeling high after cutting. But the high that you feel, is only very temporary. Also it is not a good high, you should not cut to feel high. Find something else that makes you feel happy or high, something that will not damage you in any way.

Cutting releases chemicals in your brain that lead to an endorphin's like state. Because of this it is normal to feel a sense of euphoria after cutting. This feeling does not excuse the mental and physical damage this act is causing.

It's adrenaline, totally normal. I wouldn't say it's a "high" feeling just that ur body is overwhelmed with emotions

Yes. Many people have different reactions. The important thing is that it's a temporary high. Instead of focusing on that high you get, focus on the long term happiness. What can you do to make that happiness or calm long term?
