You are, literally, wearing your confidence on your sleeve. The scars that you are willing to let show are a part of your personal story that you have been able to control. Maybe there is a sense of familiarity with what they mean and what you have been through, while other persons' scars are unfamiliar and not within your control. It could be triggering a sense of unease because it reminds you of times you have felt unfamiliar and not in control of your own self. Are you highly empathetic towards others usually? It could be an empathy response, too, that creates the uncomfortable feeling. You are familiar with what negative space a person is in when they may harm themselves. Perhaps you feel badly for others when you recognize that they have been here. I am proud of you for being able to wear short sleeves. I hope that you can decipher this feeling and become more comfortable in all environments.

it is ok to feel uncomfortable to see others who have been in the same situation you are in or are recovering from. only you can decide why you are willing to wear short sleeves. I wear short sleeves and i don't mind if anyone sees them because maybe I can spread awareness of what is going on and how others can show support. sometimes I am ashamed or fearful of my scars but your scars don't define you, they just remind you that you are a survivor. this is really up to you on why you wear short sleeves and why you become uncomfortable seeing others. Hope this helps. stay Strong!
