I think it is, as long as you are doing something that harm yourself, then it is. I don't think self harm is only doing cuts to yourself, I think its more than that, I think it's not thinking of your well being, not being able to love yourself, doing things that put you in danger. Eating something that you should avoid is self harm, it's just it's something not visible to everyone unlike the cuts in your skin, but it's also something very serious, I guess everyone should be aware that self harm won't always be having cuts on a skin but also making yourself ill.

Yes. Burning yourself on purpose with anything, fire, acid, friction i.e. is considered self harm. Anything you do to purposely hurt your self, is considered as self harm. There are really great risks involved when handling acid and you can make more harm to yourself than you wanted to if by accident rubbing your eyes or ingesting it. Depending on the acid it may be so dangerous that you cause permanent damages to your body or even death. Never handle acid without proper knowledge and safety precautions for yours or others safety. Remember there are always other alternatives to self harm and you do not have to suffer alone.

Pyschology Today describes self harm as ‘the act of deliberately inflicting pain and damage to your own body...can include cutting, burning, scratching, and other forms of injury. The other forms of self-harm include consuming toxic amounts of alcohol or drugs, or participating in unsafe sex. While self-injury can look like attempted suicide, and some who self-harm go on to actually attempt suicide, many people who intentionally hurt themselves are simply taking extreme measures to distract themselves from their problems and release themselves from unbearable mental anguish.’ If you’re hurting yourself, I’d say that does sound like the definition of self harm. Talking to a professional or a trusted adult might help, we all want you to be safe! Feel free to message us here at 7 cups if you ever need to talk about it.

Yes, it counts as self-harm when you use acid to burn yourself. What is counted as self harm depends solely on why you are doing it, not necessarily on what you are doing. Everything you do with the intention of hurting yourself counts as self harm. Even if it's something that is not usually seen as self-harm. Self-harm doesn't even have to be physical, emotional self harm is also a thing. I recommend you seek support with this and maybe try and look into alternative, less harmful, coping strategies. There are a lot of other options out there!

Of course. You’re still technically hurting yourself; no matter how you do it, if you hurt yourself intentionally, it’s self harm. Please make sure you do not do this. It’s dangerous, and you could really harm yourself. Acid is a dangerous substance, so please do not use it-especially not to burn yourself! It counts as self harm, and please call somebody if you feel this way. Please, please don’t try and hurt yourself; especially not with something as dangerous as acid! It is self harm, and it’s not good. Please don’t do this to yourself. I’m sure you’d not only hurt yourself physically but also mentally.
