Any sort of behaviour that is meant to cause you harm counts as self-harm. I'm so sorry to hear you're going through that. But I want you to know that there is always someone ready to support you here at 7cups, and that this is something that you really can stop doing. I know it feels impossible, and it's going to be very hard and challenging, but you can stop hurting yourself. You are a wonderful person, deserving of love and compassion. Never forget that.

Yes, indeed it does. The definition of self harm is “Self-harm, also known as self-injury, is defined as the intentional, direct injuring of body tissue, done without suicidal intentions.†Burning yourself with acid is directly injuring your body and causing pain just like a knife would.

In short, yes it does. Doing anything to yourself that may cause pain/harm counts as self harm. This includes, burning, scratching, biting, cutting, hitting yourself or anything to induce deliberate pain.

Yes. If you’re doing this on purpose it’s selfharm. Cutting isn’t the only form of self harm. Anything done purposely to hurt yourself is self harm. If you’re struggling with selfhsrm try downloading an app called Calm Harm. It’s a great help to help you calm down!
