I think it depends on the feelings behind it. If you scratch yourself to relieve stress, anxiety or in order to release anger then I think it counts as self harm regardless of whether or not you bleed.

Rather than the severity of injury it is the motivation for scratching that would determine whether it was self harm. Scratching an itch is a healthy behaviour whereas scratching because of negative feelings is a coping mechanism.

Yes it does if you use it as a way to hurt/inflict pain on yourself. I used to do this a lot I'd also pinch my self to inflict pain

Absolutely you can consider it self harming...any way that you hurt yourself whether its scratching or cutting or bruising and burning yourself are all self harm..

It's all about why you are scratching. If you are doing it to release or to feel the burning then yes. Self harm is anything that hurts yourself intentionally. It's not shameful to self harm, a lot of people self harm. You are not alone. Please get help and talk to people :)

Any self inflicted injury, no matter how small is self harm and you should seek help from a friend, doctor or councillor, please keep yourself safe xx
