We tend to project back at ourselves any criticism or attacks that we have experienced, storing the trauma and using it against ourselves. When you look at yourself and hate what you see, that isn't the real you. It's the part of your brain that is holding onto that trauma. Learning to love yourself after such experiences can take time but realising that those feelings are wrong is a great first step. Try and utilise the discomfort you feel to motivate you to seek help - whether that be via a listener on 7 Cups or by seeking more professional help to assist you with getting to the root cause of your problem.
