My ex broke up with me out of the blue. He was struggling with mental health issues and refusing to get help so I let him leave. Now he's seeking help and really seems to be changing and wants me back. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Maybe you should try and see where things go, don't just jump in and let it get back to what it was because by breaking up randomly like that he has surely broken your trust, but the mental health problems and the mounting frustration they must have caused for him are also not invalid. Not that it justifies what he did though, I just think maybe let him earn your trust? Also if you do decide to give him a chance, make sure you tell him clearly how unfair he was to you, and how much his actions have hurt you, and that he needs to really prove to you that you are not so easily disposable in his life, he needs to earn your trust. But before you do any of this, you need to clearly decide one thing- if you really do want to give him a chance after how he has treated you.

Take it slow. Let your ex know that you will slowly let him back into your life. Notice the little things to see if they really are changing. However, remember that they will have set backs and maybe you should try to be understanding if you do let that person back into your life. We are all humans and sometimes we need support in order to change and be a better person. Tell your ex that change is difficult but that you will support them. The fact that they are actually finding help means that they really want to better themselves.

I believe you should just focus on yourself for a little while longer. I wouldn't rush into getting back into a relationship. I'm not saying you can't be there for him right now as he seeking help. You and he just need to take yall time before rushing back together. If it's meant for you to be back with him things will work out for y'all to be back together. Just remind a good friend for him right now. Let him work on himself and continue to receive the treatment he is receiving. It all be worth it in the end.
