Give them a sincere apology. It will be hard, but recognize that you probably should have acted a little better, and realize that it will take time for them to trust you again. Also, accept their response. Just tell them that you made a huge mistake and you feel awful about it, and that you want a chance to start over. And make sure you don't just apologize, but show them that you're sorry. Be really kind to them to make up for what you did, and they'll probably start to realize that you've changed. Also, don't be too hard on yourself, because everybody makes mistakes.

I have to consider this question myself in this season of a particular relationship! I think we need to start wher we’re at, and begin being a good friend again first. That can take a bit of effort, time, and creativity! Taking an interest in your friends thoughts, wants and feelings will certainly help! Why not try the 7cups listeners course? I found that got me thinking a lot more about the person on the other side of the table than about my own needs. Surprisingly, this shift of focus made me feel great too! If you want to see a positive change, make a positive adjustment :) You’re a winner going somewhere to happen!

It's not about winning the heart - it's about building trust. Trust doesn't just build overnight. It's a gradual process and depends on the person how long it takes to restore. It's best to start over and just be a good friend to them as much as you can WITHOUT changing yourself solely to match their preferences. It's extremely important to be yourself.
