i think if you step away for a moment, and evaluate what is really happening, it may help. I tend to lash out when extremely angry, and I know it is a character flaw of mine. But to combat this, I will remove my self from the situation and try and calm my self down. When I have accomplished that, I will go back to the conversation and try and get a better feeling about what it is that we are really arguing about. Is my partner angry because of something I did or because of something that happened and they are venting their frustrations.

Relationships are different for everyone. I currently have a boyfriend and I overthink every little thing. The most important thing in a relationship is to communicate. If you feel like you are being "emotional" when your partner is angry with you, try talk your feelings. I am assuming this is when you get in an argument and both have different opinions, it is best to agree to disagree. Your partner should understand you and listen to you, and might try to be calmer when they are in the wrong head space. They should understand you and listen to what you say.
