I would definitely not say that you are in love as soon as you put someone elses needs over yours because this can become unhealthy sooner or later. You are in love when you feel like you want to make someones life better because you care for them and you feel like they deserve a lot. But at the same time you will have to notice if the other person wants to invest in you as well.

If you love a person, or are in love with someone. You will respect and adore said person. Unlike the movies you won't hear birds chirping, but you will look forward to seeing them, spending time with them. The will be on your mind all the time. When you see them it's like they made your day, just like that. But being in love with someone is caring for eachother and having mutual respect.

This a tough one, and I suppose it depends a lot on the person, since some fall in love easier than others. Pay attention to what you feel, react and think when you are with that person (excited, happy, conforted, nervous, smile and laughj a lot, feel positive, etc.) and when you are not (e.g if you think a lot on that person).
