The more I read, I'm terrified of trying EMDR. I want to, but I'm also extremely scared. My therapist seems awesome, but I don't know. I feel like I need to hear the worst to prepare myself... advice?

I think asking your therapist about EMDR might help to allow you to understand more fully what you would be doing and going through and give you the opportunity to ask questions. I have had EMDR done for me with my therapist and while remembering the event was not enjoyable I trusted and felt comfortable with my therapist to continue. Once we were finished with it I was able to process the memory as something normal and not distressing. During the process you use your eyes to follow a light or object while going through the memory and talking about how it makes you feel.
