I was beaten up by a group of goons where I live, and it still hurts me and brings about a terror in me. I feel so scared even if I think of it, I feel insecure. how do I get through all of this?

So the event that you went through caused not only physical harm, but emotional and psychological harm. It sounds like you are still experiencing distress, may feel threatened, anxious or scared. Remember you are not alone - there are people here who can help you. After experiencing traumatic events it can take some time to get your body and mind back to normal, but it can happen. Being able to talk about it, recognize when you are experiencing triggers or thoughts of the events are an important part. When you start to recognize these events - another important part is coping skills. I recommend you checking out the trauma community for great ideas and support there.
