Understanding that medication is not always the answer is key. There are many breathing exercises you can do before the onset of a panic attack. Diaphragmatic breathing is a great way of overcoming a panic attack.

I have gotten a couple different ones myself. Talk to your psychiatrist to see what they recommend. Different medications work differently for everyone, but they are definitely out there.

Absolutely, and you should talk to a psychiatrist about them. There are general meds that help you calm down in the moment, as well as daily meds that can help you manage your general anxiety.

There are several anti-anxiety medications, such as xanax, that are made directly for panic attacks. Many medications, however, such as Zoloft, Seroquel, etc. are not used to treat anxiety necessarily, but have a gentle calming effect on anxious people.

Yep there are prescription medication that can be used for panic disorder. Try to make an appointment with your doctor whenever you can, but a lot of the time they also advise me to continue with therapy. They say that a mixture of medication and therapy is the most effective way to help treat my panic disorder and anxiety :)

A psychiatrist can prescribe medicines that can help combat anxiety. There are also options available at health food stores, though those don't always work quite as well for some people.

Although the best form of medication is self-medication, some individuals do require medication to help treat their panic attacks and anxiety. You should always see your doctor to see what he recommends and avoid going on permanent medication if possible. I take Ativan/Lorazepam to treat my anxiety, but I only take them when it is completely necessary.
