Numbness or disassociation is usually our brains way of protecting us when we would be otherwise unable to cope or process the extreme emotions we are feeling. It is a wonderful and intelligent function we have to be able to gain the strength and focus to later revisit those things. It can certainly be overwhelming to begin feeling after a period of numbness but it is important to remember that feeling those things, especially when they are difficult, is necessary in order to heal and move on. The numbness has it's purpose but it also pauses the clock on healing and does not allow us to really work through the emotional and mental journey we have to get through to get better. So yes, it may be overwhelming but if you are beginning to feel again- it is because your brain knows you are ready to do so and it is time to begin healing.

It might at first , but you can always deal with what comes... because ultimately the bottled up feelings do spill over... and when it does there's no other way but to resolve those feelings , talk about them , vent, then move on.

Blocking your feelings from being felt can cause you to be holding and not dealing with the emotions that you have gone through. This in due time can cause a bad outburst. Best is to deal with the emotions that you have kept away one at a time in your own private time.

I can't predict the future for you, but generally no. (By numb, I am assuming you mean depression, sorry if I am wrong.) Diving into depression is a gradual thing, so getting out of it is also gradual. It might slowly come back to you that how you have been living is worse than the emotions, and then your "bad days" will probably be your most numb days. The process is slow, but with time and effort you can make it out of that numbness and life will be way easier. Sure, you might get depressive episodes, but that will just allow you to appreciate emotions even more.
