Sometimes there are underlying causes we do not want to address on our sadness, so we push them away to where we don't have to deal with them, however the more we avoid our problems, the more sad we get, until we face them. If there is not a situational reason, it could also be due to hormones or a mood disorder.

Sometimes we have bad days, and its gonna pass. But if you feel sad too many times in a long period of time, its may be a sign of depression. You can consult someone if you are insecure about it or you can talk to someone close to you.

Sadness is a state of mind.Sometimes we feel sad just because our body wants to remind us that we are human and we have feelings.

It happens with everyone. I don't have any scientific reason for it but here's something I read once : "When someone dies who has nobody in this world to grieve for them, the sadness is assigned to a random person. That is why you sometimes feel sad for no reason." There is obviously no proof of this being true, but it always comes to my mind when I'm sad for no reason.
By the way, sometimes when you're "sad for no reason", maybe you're just sad for a whole lot of minute reasons which you cannot bring together and comprehend as one, simply because they are all tiny fragments, having arisen at different times and hence you cannot find a solid reason behind your sadness.

It is okay to feel sad for no reason. Emotions and feelings are what make us humans and there is no wrong or right to feel a certain way. Feeling sad for no reason just means you are currently feeling sad for no reason. See everything as it is without further elaborating it.

I sometimes feel sad for no reason because I have not cared for myself. I have not taken care of my needs. Feeling sad also reminds me that I did something wrong. I have to deal with it, ask for forgiveness and move on.

Some of us have brains that are more sensitive to the effects of stress. Feeling sad for no reason could be the result of brain chemistry (serotonin and norepinephrine), the weather (Seasonal Affective Disorder), Vitamin D deficiency, hormonal changes, or subconscious triggers.

I know how this feels and it feels frustrating because you don't know what's wrong and so you can't help yourself. I believe that it may be frustration with boredom. Boredom isn't always an angry or frustrated feeling, you can feel sad too. That boredom may come from having nothing to do so you kind of just sit there with your thoughts. To solve this, try getting out of your comfort zone. Do something fun like go for a walk, find new hobbies and new friends. It may sound really hard to do this but you will find something to do eventually.

You can feel sad and not understand the reason why. Just accept that you are sad and don't understand why. It could be a secondary emotion rooted to some other emotion. There is also the possibility of negative or automatic thoughts leading to a sense of sadness depression or unhappiness.
