Some people will try and tell you to get over it and be happy. Yeah, that doesn't work! I've had those times in my life where I didn't want to be happy, where I didn't want to feel anything I just wanted to get through the day. You might not want it now, you might not want to be happy for a while but eventually things will start looking up and you'll want to do more than to get through the day without crying or you'll want to do more than to get out of bed. Happiness isn't something that comes easy it's something you have to work towards.

Perhaps the thing you don't want is the potential sudden loss of happiness once you have it. We come to accept that external sources of happiness come and go. But these sources of happiness do not originate from the object or circumstance itself, fleeting happiness comes from the value we place on this attaining this object or circumstance. If we realize that we have set our own criteria for happiness, we come to the realization that this criteria is also in our control. When your sources of happiness come from within - from the gratitude of the little things in life, from what you control right now and give attention to, and from the choice you make each day to love instead of hate - you have chosen to be happy.

It depends on your definition of happiness. If the happiness you have defined a certain way is not the happiness you want (the things you enjoy in life, for example), you could explore a different definition. The point of happiness is what you make of it.

If you don't want something, then i don't see the point in pursuing it. You have to want to want it.
Maybe it's more a case of that you do want it but you are scared how the change will impact your life and how you'll handle it. If that's the case then it's worth working on those issues first. For me, i find comfort in a familiar kind of depression, and find benefits from it in some situations.
Whilst it's horrendous to be so depressed, part of me 'likes' that i can withdraw from the world and not interact with anyone and i have an excuse for it. So, i want to be happy but i don't like the responsibility and normalness that comes with that.

That's a hard question to answer, and it sounds like depression has it's ugly arms around you. When we are depressed we don't believe that we will ever be happy because we can't see any reason to be. Depression clouds are views and our thoughts.
Happiness can be scary, like a beautiful sunset that we enjoy for a minute and then it is gone. We can't hold onto something so beautiful when it is nothing more than a fleeting moment. Depression makes us thing happiness is something we can never really grasp, just something that is always out of reach.
Please be gentle with yourself.

If happiness is defined by achieving the set goal. Not having happiness is actually fulfilling the goal if 'don't want happiness' which eventually lead to happiness too.
Of course, this is a paradox. Every soul craves for happiness and tend to away from suffering. The fact of not wanting happiness is because you are too pain and wish to get away from suffering. Away from suffering is peace, not happiness. Perhaps, a moment of peace in life is all we want.

Just because you don't want happiness, it does not mean you don't deserve it. Every human being is capable of happiness just as they would with sadness.
