Stopping tears easily is something I have always been good at. Basically, you pinch that little flappy skin part between your index finger and thumb hard, stopping the flow of tears.

I would say definitely remove yourself (if possible) from the situation that's bothering you, take a walk, go into the bathroom, get a drink of water, and try to "think out", and make sense of the situation at hand, and how to professionally deal with it

The best way to stop tears and overflowing emotion while at work is to when these moments happen take yourself out from the situation and move to somewhere there's less people and bring a friend with you to talk you through it too.
