Often the biggest fears of others is literally going insane, or looking insane to others. I can tell you right now, there is no beautiful way to break down. There's no romanticizing it, because it's horrible. It's exhausting to deal with, and when you come out of it, you feel numb and achy. But, you're not going to go insane, and how people perceive you really doesn't matter. You have to practice self care, and that is learning to ground yourself and encourage yourself (I know, easier said than done, but it's worth it). It's all a moment, and it will always pass.

It's intelligent of you to identify that you have breakdowns at times. I don't think you look insane if you know when you're broken.

No of course you don't look insane. Everyone copes with things differently and lots of people experience breakdowns when emotions have been built up for a long time and they need to be released. There's nothing wrong with that and it's definitely not insane.

Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind :) You don't look insane to those who love you. At the least, they will be concerned for your well-being. And you don't need to look out for other people.

When you have a breakdown it depends entirely on how the others view you, everybody is worried, that is a guarantee. What they do from there is like the fight or flight response, they help or walk away. It doesn't make you look insane at all but merely in need of a friend.

When I see someone having a breakdown, I see someone who has been battling with a long and painful journey and is ready to show how vulnerable they really are, I don't see weakness, I see strength and bravery.
