You never look insane. It doesnt matter what anybody else thinks about you. You just need to be yourself and be strong and keep pushing.

If in the process of having a mental breakdown or in a situation of panic, first establish whether you are in a potentially dangerous situation to you or towards others. If not, find a strategy to calm yourself down. I take deep breaths and say my dog's name until I calm down. It sounds silly, but my dog's name calms me down. It may look strange but I'm not bothering anyone, especially when I find a nice quiet spot for me to be alone.

I typically hold it in when I have a breakdown. I don't like showing others what I'm going through, so I normally deal with it in private. If I'm really in a bad place, I'll vent to a close friend. I enjoy sitting in my room, listening to music, eating ice cream, and taking some time to recollect myself.

This is a difficult question. A breakdown to one person can be everyday normality for another person. What one person might find insane, others may find normal. All people have different views and opinions. If you feel you are having a breakdown, don't think about what you look like to others but think about what you (and people who care about you) can do to help. Some people judge others, no matter what - that is a fact of life.

Some people may understand it and feel compassionate, but there maybe others who might not understand it and think that you are over reacting or any of that sorts. But the point is its always good to have a time and place for breaking down. If you need the space to do so away from people do it.
