I've found that sometimes when I'm in a numb state I need to go to a quiet place and sort of meditate on my internal state to see if I'm covering up some feelings. I try to ground myself, plant my feet firmly on the floor and I usually find I have some anxiety or something bothering me I'm trying to hold back.
On the alternative side, this can actually push me further into a negative state so I force myself to reach out to people, friends and family to distract myself. Sometimes, I just need to change environments to get myself out of my head and reorient myself. For example, I go for a walk or get in the car and drive, or if a friend is available, I hang out with that person for a while. Other distractions that work for me are browsing the internet, looking at funny memes, doing an activity I enjoy or watching a movie. Playing with my pets. Something that can take my mind off whatever is bothering me or whatever I'm lacking in feeling to produce a positive feeling in it's place.

What helps me when i feel sad is just Pick up a small, light notebook to keep with you on a regular basis. It helps to get something you can throw in your bag or back pocket and carry with you throughout the day. In this notebook create a list or chart. When you notice that you have a feeling or sensation in your body, write it down.
I feel relaxed when i write everything and then burn it.

Distrations always work for me. Do something with your hands, read a good book, a good movie, call a friend, take a bath, something that you know will keep your mind busy.

Do something that you've never done before. Such as talk to a stranger, wear something you've never thought of wearing, eat something you've never eaten and write about it or do something that you always resisted doing :)

Let the feeling pass. Occasionally, we all feel that way . I for instance, sometimes feel like I'm floating away like a balloon. The thing is that you shouldn't fight the feeling. Accept it and only then you can overcome it.
Wish you hope and strength.

Try to do something just to get your blood flowing and your mind engaged. If you feel numb to the world or to emotion or pain, just try something, even if it will hurt. Try to open up to someone, try a new hobby, try to forgive yourself or the others involved.

I take deep breaths and try to focus. I know crying won't really help at this point so I try my best to distract my mind with things I love.

If you just feel numb, you should obviously try to feel something. Try to do something that would make you feel happy about yourself!

Regularly feeling "numb" is a sign of possible depression. Please consider consulting a licensed therapist to work through those feelings. In the meantime, are there times when you don't feel numb? If so, take a close look at those times and see if you can perhaps get some insight as to why those times are better for you.
