Rational thought can weirdly help deal with emotions better. Look at it as a rational problem, seek out the root cause, find a rational solution and try sticking to it as much as possible.

You have to understand and admit that the emotion is there and that it's not going away until you change it. You are in charge of yourself and so the faster you realize that, the faster it is for you to get over that emotion. We are here to support you and this process might take a while but when you can finally live with that emotion, you'll be happy again.

Sweeping your emotions under the rug is not the answer. You must boldly and bravely face them. You have to confront them. Often, a good way to help dig them up is to journal. Just write freely without worrying about making sense and pay no attention to grammar. Writing can be a tool that puts your emotions right there in your face. You have to identify the emotions in order to confront and deal with them.

I like to think about my emotions rationally. Sometimes, I will ask myself "Why do I feel this way?" "Should I be so worried over this?". It sounds odd, but a mind of reason can help quite a bit!
