I understand your situation. Crying helps us to let the emotions out and gives temporary relief. To be honest, relief is temporary. Life is about ups and downs. If you acheive even a moment's peace, it is gone the next moment. This is we all have to deal with. When i faced this situation, i came across some words of Swami Vivekanand. He said," Let happiness come! Let sorrow come as well. I will embrace them both!" I found out for myself that the key is acceptance. Accept both relief and sorrow and know that neither will last. Prevent yourself from getting swayed when it comes. Calmly accept and gather the courage to face it headon! You are your own boss!! You can surely do it!

Let everything sink in, and then meditate or do you what like doing most, maybe even meditating. I usually just cry and then go to sleep, or I'll play whatever type of music I like. Personally, just crying all of your sadness away seems to help me, but that's not the case for everyone. You eventually realize that after crying your eyes and heart out, you do get relief, you're just still stuck on whatever made you cry. I understand what you get by being able to cry whenever and for how long and still be sad in the long run, I feel like that too.

Trying to understand what makes you cry could be the answer to getting relief. Talk to a friend, spouse or someone you trust about the issue. Having a shoulder to cry on is important. Check your mood when shedding the tears. Find out what has triggered the situation. Sometimes reading a book or listening to calming music helps or even just a change in environment. Go for a walk, a run, visit a friend, watch funny or motivational videos. Surround yourself with happy energy, positive friends. Even a warm scented bath, with candles, is very soothing. But most importantly, take time out to see what brings on the waterworks.

Try taking your mind off the wondering thoughts that was the trigger for this wave of sadness in the first place. Work on a puzzle, go for a walk in a scenic location, or some other task that will keep you focused on something else. Try to identify the triggers which are causing the crying and address why they make you feel so sad. Crying isn't a bad thing, it's a catharsis, but learn how to channel this negative energy into something more positive. Even this dark cloud will pass, when all seems hopeless, and you'll find your light on the other side.
