Sadness is experienced when we have suffered a loss or witnessed something traumatic. I sometimes feel sad by listening to the news. It's heartbreaking which evokes the feeling of sadness.

It is great that you can recognise and identify your emotions. has something happened to make you feel sad? would be a good place to start. Sit with the emotion and ask the question and see what comes up for you. Maybe have a notepad and pen near by. You will be surprised to see what can come up when you just start writing. I also started an exercise last year which was a massive help for me and that was listening to some melancholy (sad) music and just letting my emotions come up. Once I sat crying to this piece of music and then. I felt amazing. Honour your emotions they are here for a reason. Make peace with them by listening to them and let them do their job. Sometimes we may repress our emotions so they try again another time to come up and be seen.

We experience a wide range of emotions in our lifetime, whether we want to or not. These emotions can be triggered by an external cause or nothing at all. What is important is to safely let out these emotions whether it is through writing, talking to someone, music, art, meditation, or other things that make you calm and happy.

Are you in a bad situation? Did something happen to you? Imagine a wave, in front of you. Sometimes it is a little wave and you can jump over it, but other times it is so big that you go under and struggle to get back up. That‘s the exact same situation in our life. Sometimes there are giant waves in front of us and we feel helpless and sad without knowing why, but there is always a way out. It is just a bad period maybe you are really stressed because of school/work or family and friends. You should try to go out and have some fun.

This is a common problem it can be due to so many issues. We live in a society that discriminates against so much we feel horrid about our lives as they are not the 'ideal' even though it's unrealistic

Sadness is a common emotion some people feel as often as once per day depending on the what's happening in their lives. Before you begin exploring the reason for your sadness, you first need to accept that feeling. Remember this: your feelings are valid because you feel them. They are real, and you don't need to judge yourself for having any feelings. Accept the fact that you are sad and that's okay right now. You may think to feel sad means you're weak or overly emotional. Yet, everyone experiences sadness at some time in their life, no matter how strong or stoic they may seem.
