Unfortunately, humans can feel sadness, joy, grief, anger - it is a natural human emotion and not all sadness is bad. Always remember that it's temporary and that you can work through problems and events that cause you grief and despair, or sadness. If you feel constantly depressed, you should consult with a trained counsellor or psychologist. They can help you uncover things that may be hidden in the subconscious. But always keep in mind: sadness is temporary and it requires support to get through it, so don't isolate yourself with your problems and reach out to others.

There could be multiple reasons as to why you may be feeling this way and it could be to do with your environment, a chemical imbalance, any life changing situations such as someone dying or being ill, having little to no hobbies or interests, money problems, relationship issues and so on. If you feel like there is nothing really wrong with your life and nothing that could be causing these issues, I would suggest you see your GP as soon as possible as they're not only qualified to give you advice but they also know you and your families history as well as being able to prescribe any medications that they feel you may need. You may also want to consider seeing a counsellor who can help you get to the route of the problem. Hope this helps.
