Death is always in the back of my mind for sure. I know that anyone's life can easily be taken as quickly as the way it came if not quicker. The only thing you can do is use death to conquer your fears and to take risks. You may hesitate to do something risky but then if you remember that you're going to die anyway, it will really put things into perspective.

Death is always going to happen no matter what and you cant stop it, however if you think about the positive things within your life, and think about the things that encourage you to see the amazing sections and parts of life and the things that make you smile behind life, this could stop this idea about you thinking about death, maybe even taking up a hobby.

The need to find the cause behind this kind of thoughts, is must. That is the first step. It maybe due to various reasons such as -low self esteem, self doubt, anxiety and so on. Whatever maybe the reason you know that these are unhealthy. And what do we do with unhealthy stuff ?- throw or replace with the healthy one. When you force yourself with something (like trying tostop thinking about death in this case) you are in return hurting yourself, and the thought is not even gone. It stays there to pop up again. So the best way to make this work is to accept the thought and analyse, on what basis you are thinking of death? Why you feel like dying and not face the problem? What is so difficult about it that you need to die ? And so on...
Feeling sad or depressed is quite okay few times but death is not an option. We own the highest intelligence in the world and are gifted with thebest life. Utilize the precious time. If one thing doesn't works , go for something else. It's okay to fail until you are not willing to give up . :)

Well first, I want to let you know that it is not abnormal to think about death. Everyone questions their humanity and mortality at least once. Usually, when I want to stop thinking about something, I force myself to think about something else. I don't know if that could work for you because everyone is different, but I guess that's worth a try.

There are numerous ways to stop thinking about death for a moment. It will only be for a moment though. I usually busied myself with tactile things. Things that took concentration and were hands on. I started out with writing how I felt since I tended to think about death when I felt completely alone. It was almost always my most mediocre writing. It was something I felt ashamed about; musings about taking my own life and I found it mildly interesting that I continually thought that my life would end on a silent note whilst I would cry rivers for the lives of loved ones. It then occurred to me, what made my life so much less important than the ones I'd cry for? For myself to stop thinking that death would be the end-all and stop my life from feeling so rushed, harsh, and hopeless...I accepted it as an inevitability. Life has worth. Every life has a purpose.
After my stroke, realizing death will happen at any point and for any reason, it became easier for me to stop thinking about death as an answer for everything that hurt. For every time I cried, was let down, failed, was abused...death is rarely the first thing that pops into my head. My first thought is trying to see things from the other side. However, I understand that accepting death as an inevitability is not a way to stop thinking about it completely. So. You can busy yourself which will temporarily distract you from the thoughts or you can talk to someone you trust who won't invalidate what you're feeling about why it is you're thinking about death.

I would try to find a hobby, or outlet to try and keep myself busy. Music for me was the a perfect way to deal with some of what I was going through.
