You can prevent your negative thinking through journaling or keeping a diary where you can record every negative thought that comes to you. After that, you can use a counter-narrative and ask yourself about the evidence for that thought. This happens most of the time unconsciously. Automatic thoughts make us vulnerable to negative thinking and distorted thoughts. Because of these automatic thoughts, we start thinking in this pattern without even realizing it. It needs to be broken or else excessive negative thinking could lead to a disorder at some point in time. It paralyzes our daily life and affects our relationships. Thought recording activity and journaling really helps me.

I get my mind on another activity that I like and enjoy. Movies reading. I take a drive. Listen to music and dance. Meditation and listening to motivational speakers. I found that writing helps me to reflect and therefore makes me grateful. Gratitude leaves no room for negative thoughts so I am constantly grateful. Meditation has always help because a peaceful mind can have nothing negative in it. Only peaceful and calmness. The more active I keep my mind by doing action steps the less negative thoughts arise and the happier I am. Patients is necessary but well worth it.

Try to realise you are not your thoughts. Thoughts come and go. Just like clouds in the sky. You are sky. Similarly you are awareness behind the thoughts. Whenever negative thoughts come just let it pass away. Let it come and let it go..don't pay much attention to it..if you pay attention you will get entagled into it and one negative thought will lead to other negative thought. So whenever you have negative thought, you can say in mind like skip. Or you can bring your awareness or attention to neutral things like breathing or focusing on candle.

Negative thinking is something that is very common and even natural. I think the best way to reword this question is "How can I promote positive thinking?". Every time you have a negative thought, accept it and let that thought pass. After the thought passes, think of something positive. This will start as a conscious effort, but with repetition and dedication it can turn into an unconscious effort! No one is going to think positively all the the time, but its important to notice when you are having negative thoughts and then purposefully thinking of positive thoughts. This can be the case for thoughts about the self, friends and family, events, places, and even memories!
