Nothing worth it comes without hard work. You more you work on your self esteem and self worth I gets easier. Improving yourself is difficult and well done for getting to where you are :)

We all have those days, piled with work, the cold and a killer headache. Yet life must still go on! A good way to stay positive is to keep a gratitude journal; from the stranger that smiled to your general existence, write down everything you can and read, it's a surefire way to keep you on the right track!

Sometimes I get upset easily, so when I realize I'm becoming sad, I will always do something I enjoy. I usually call up a friend, play softball, go for a run, or read. :)

While it is by no means easy to pull oneself out of that black hole, one must actually WANT to get better. It almost sounds like a joke -- of course everybody wants to get better. Of course everybody wants to be happy. But the reality is that if a person doesn't want it enough, they will not be able to recover. More people give up on recovery because accepting their depression, for instance, is much easier than putting in the effort to get better. This is what I mean by "they must want to get better." They must want it so badly that they are able to work through their lack of energy. To actively keep oneself lively, hopeful, and happy is not easy, but it isn't impossible either. Once one gets to the other side, they'll be happy they didn't decide to give up.

I am a very self-aware person. I find myself reading constantly about the news, and what's going on, and what's wrong and what's bad and unfortunately the way our news is structured, the more scandalous or bad the news, more it will be promoted. It's hard to find happy things sometimes. I find if I spend some time just goofing off, reading articles on buzzfeed, focusing on my interests and building a community around them (I like calligraphy, and have found a forum I enjoy very much!), it can help keep the sadness away. Doing things for others, and finding good things in your life. For me, personally, 7 cups of tea, for example, is an amazing thing. It brings me a lot of happiness to know so many people are wanting and able to help others in their time of need.

I like to tell myself that it is okay to be sad, because we can't be happy all the time. But I try to find out what is making me sad, and find a way to comfort that sadness.

There are many difficulties in life that can easily drag us into bouts of depression or doubt. I think it’s important to keep in mind of all the positive progress that you are making in your life. Keep your goals and dreams closer to you than doubt and sadness. There will always be times of sadness in life but ultimately it is up to us to bring ourselves back to our own personal path by not ever giving up and focusing on all the positives.

I know how hard that is, and it might even be impossible. My own advice would be just don't try too hard, and enjoy the moments of happiness you get. Think of yourself as a fighter, and keep fighting and enjoy being happy, but sadness is a part of life. Its not about not being sad, its about not letting sadness get the better of you, and try to do what you can.
