If something upsets you, before you say something, think to yourself: Is what I am about to say helpful? Is it truthful? Is it harmful? Is it right? Double-check yourself, there is absolutely no harm in that.

If you know, what kind of situations make you overreact, you can envision them beforehand and make a plan, what you are going to do if this specific thing happens. Even if you won't be able to follow your planned actions at first, it will get easier after a while.

How I keep myself from over reacting is by thinking about all of the possibilities before I do something. Think about all the bad things and the good things that could happen.
