We don't choose our emotions, they occur naturally to us. If you can't stop feeling sad, maybe try doing something that makes you happy. If it doesn't get better in time I would suggest seeking out professional help.

In order for one to be happy, they must first understand why they are sad. "If there is a will, there is a way" is a vastly underestimated saying because the underlying theme that statement, is willpower, which is why the word "will" is included in the phrase. Once you pinpoint your sadness and it's roots, set goals for yourself in what you want to achieve, develop the willpower to carry out said goals, and continue the "way" you have chosen.

Make it a point to do at least 1 thing that makes you happy each day. Spend more time around people who make you feel good and less around people who make you feel bad. Live for yourself. Do what you want to do, not what you're told you should do. Do things because you think it's the right thing to do, not because someone else does. Don't blindly copy other people's lives, even successful people. Create your own purpose. Success stems from doing good things which takes passion.
