This will help in protecting your feelings and you form getting hurt. The world is quite large, there are so many people out there. I wouldn't waste my time around someone who doesn't care about me.

The question has many interpretation in various situations at various places. These feelings can be personal, politically activated, religious, professional and so on. Therefore, the solution to stop hurting yourself varies accordingly. But, there are some common ways to do so such as:
- The most basic suggestion to avoid such people who do not care about you emotion.
- In some cases, you can not ignore the other person for reasons like
:- you are emotionally attached with that person sometimes in past or still continued. In this scenario, rationality suppressed by emotions. Its better to go to the person to whom you trust and s/he will always provide the suggestions for your betterment. And try to follow him/her as much as possible and still if you involve with that person who made your life hell, it's better to go to some expert.
:- Professionally if one hurts you, you have various options to deal with it though neglecting or avoiding such person is not possible. Therefore, firstly to make yourself that much stronger so you can maintain your calm and approach your colleagues or seniors depends on the situation and enlarge your support base to overcome those small bunch people's attack.
- The most important point is that one do not need to hurt back as this will make you equally evil and will take you away from humanity and such hurt-game will be continued so long that it will not solve the purpose to get someone who care about your feeling.
Therefore, believe in humanity and think rationally, you will automatically get persons around you who will take care of your feelings and it may also convert those people who hurted you in past.

In this instance it is most likely the case that the other person does not realise they might be hurting your feelings. It might be best to simply talk to them. If you feel comfortable enough you could do this alone, or if not you could talk to them with a friend or send them a note/letter/email.

In this situation, you have to put yourself first. Worry about yourself and what you think is truly best for you. Maybe you should isolate yourself from the person and cut off communication. It hurts but it hurts a lot less than someone truly hurting you, at least you did this for yourself. You feel?
