In my experience, The reason for having mixed emotions about our happiness is because of some underlying undealt with feelings that have gotten in the way of our ability to feel true happiness. When I have taken the time to examine why it is that I feel this way, I find that it is stemming from some emotional conflicts that have not yet been resolved in my mind and or heart. Happiness is a state of our mindset. I can not say it is normal or not, but it lacks the acceptance of what is and a need to evaluate why you feel this way. It can be hard to find the source of where the feeling is coming from. One may need to seek expert advice to aid in helping identify the underlying blocks.

I'm not sure why that happens either but for me it is normal. Around my family I am a weird bubbly person. I usually feel happy out of nowhere but then I really think about what I feel and it's never complete happiness. And I think that we as humans mostly are never completely happy no matter how much we think we are. Whether your not happy because you told your dog you would spend your time with him today but you didn't so you felt bad, even if just a little. That was a dumb example I guess but I think it's normal, for me anyway. I hope I was of help. :)
