No one is ever truly invisible, and generally when you feel this way, its because you've slowly and most likely unconscious stopped socializing. Attempting to make friends can help with being and feeling invisible.

You might feel invisible if you expect from others to give you what you cannot give to yourself. Fill your life with things that are important to you and do not require you to depend on others.

Interesting question.
Maybe you have grown accustomed to being in the background. In whatever way you are invisible, not to be seen, you must have gotten there somehow. Hence, I use the phrase "grown accustomed to". This inclines by external and/or internal situations, situations within yourself or in your environment to lead you into the background.
In exposure therapy, it is often common for the client to take small steps out of the comfortzone into a more exposed area. I'm not sure this helps answering your question. There is a why in there. Why are you invisible? It could be that you have been neglected emotionally and have not been given the needed support. That might even be only a part of it.
It would take some steps, though small, to become visible. You are doing great by asking the question. Now, to a certain extent, you are visible. This invites you to the next step. Maybe you can expose yourself in a way that feels comfortable. If that seems like too much, I would suggest to contact a professional mental health worker about the issue. He or she can help you find the right size steps. If not, you can always find someone else to help you out.
Asking for help can feel like a big step. I can also be no big deal. That depends on the individual person.
Best of luck!
