Isolation is usually chosen and you wish to be alone. Loneliness is when you have no-one to be with or feel like you don't have a choice but to be alone.

Well usually you choose to be isolated, so that's kinda in your hands. You seclude yourself from others, maybe for a break. And loneliness, that's usually nit caused by you. You can be with your friends and still feel lonely.

Isolation is when you cannot reach people because of physical barriers, but loneliness is the feeling when you are around people physically, but feel like you are not able to reach them due to social/mental barriers.

Isolation = When you (Most of the time anyway) physically have the mental process of something along the lines of "I don't want to see people anymore" or "I don't want to interact". Loneliness on the other hand is not really of choice. Maybe because the person has no friends etc. Two very different things, but still easy to mix up.

Isolation is a conscious choice separating one's self away from others. Loneliness happens unwillingly; one may continue to feel lonely despite being in a group of people.
