Why do people think I'm different after they find out I'm bisexual? I'm still me.

In my opinion some people think it's too modern that people are different than heterosexual, so I think they're just not used to the difference, so they take you as different.

A lot of people don't understand what bisexual is. Some people think that it's a phase, or think we're just confused. You just have to remember that you are still yourself. You are being true to yourself. If people can't see that, they are the ones at fault.

That's a general human nature. people will like you if you are what they want you to be....but if they will find out that you are different from what they think....their minds will change about you....positively or negatively that depends upon them.

Some people have the misconception that bisexuals are simply people who haven't chosen a side yet, and are choosing to 'play the field' or 'get' as much as they can. Regardless of whether people are homophobic or not, everyone has that moment of thought about whether or not you're flirting with them. People who are insecure tend to be more outwardly wary, whilst people who truly don't mind will simply accept it and move on.

Some people are afraid that something about you has changed, if it hasn't been a long time it will go away, it's a matter of time. If it has been a long time then you should re-consider about the people in your life

Some people do not understand the meaning and concept of bisexuality. Maybe you can sit them down and explain how it works and that you are still the same person.

unfortunately there is still a stigma surrounding bisexuality, as it is neither 'here' nor 'there', bearing in mind that being gay has only recently started to become accepted within society. people are most likely just not used to the idea of liking two genders as they've only just become accustomed to people liking the SAME gender. i don't speak for everyone but i assume that people think you're different/treat you differently after learning about your bisexuality due to the fact that they simply aren't used to it yet. over time, it will most likely become just a part of you that people don't even think about, like your hair colour or something else just as mundane. heteronormativity is a sucky thing and this is just an example of it. i hope that things get better and people start treating you like you again really soon x

Unlike the words poly, pan, and other labels, bisexual has a lot of stereotypes attached to it it, which is quite unfortunate. I found the same thing happening to me when I came out. It's not your fault, but it is a fairly normal reaction

Those people who think about you differently don't deserve to be in your life because they never understood you in the first place. You are still the exact same person. The problem is with them and not with you. Try to avoid such negative people.

Some people will hear this and see you in a different light- it's nothing bad. If they make fun of you for it, then it's unacceptable.
