The best way to help someone in this time is to let them know that you support them no matter what, and so they can be reassured and maybe more open or comfortable about it, instead of feeling like it's something you should hide and be ashamed of. Just let them know that you will be there for them and that they can be anything they want. Lesbian, Bisexual, Straight, etc. Because it doesn't matter. This is a serious subject as well of course, so you should maybe ask them to talk one day, and you can tell them that you support them.
