’m not sure how much control people have over who they fall for. However, if you find yourself falling for someone who is straight, it might be helpful to hang out in places with more LGBTQ+ people and become more friends with those groups. This might increase your likelihood of falling for a person who will also be able to return your feelings. If you fall in love with someone who doesn't love you back, it doesn't matter whether they're straight or not. What matters is that you respect them enough to try and not force change on them, and that you respect yourself enough to know that they might not be your ideal partner - that maybe a friendship is the best you can hope for at this point.
