Why doesn't taking care of myself come naturally to me?

I don't expect it should, since most of us have our parents, family and even friends who are there helping us every step of the way. So developing the habits to take care of oneself, the right ones, takes time to develop. In some cases, we quickly jump from being taken care of to taking care of others. We never really learn to love ourselves. Society doesn't openly talk about it too, at least not in the ways we would need it to. "self-care" is frowned upon, in my generation. It just doesn't sit right to care for yourself first. So give yourself time to build the right habits, and eventually it'll be second nature to you.
