“Snapping out of it” isn’t always the easiest thing to do. When people recommend you snap out of it, they do not understand what it is you are feeling. Everyone is unique and takes different time and different ways to recover. It can be really quite hard to figure out what works for you, and not everyone always has the means and the support that would help them to best recover from things. You need to treat yourself with care and have patience with yourself. Think about if someone you loved was in your position- you wouldn’t be impatient with them, so treat yourself with the same courtesy.

"Just snap out of it" is such an unhelpful idea for those struggling with mental health. We do not choose to be depressed/anxious/etc, and so simply choosing to "snap out of it" isn't necessarily an option. Feeling bad is not something we can "think" our way out of like a simple math equation, because our mental wellbeing is made up of sooo many aspects, some of which are deep-rooted, foggy, and tangled. Telling yourself to snap out of it will probably not help you feel better, but being gentle, patient, and taking baby steps to get through each day will start you on the road to feeling better.
