Feeling numb is commonly attributed to depression - so yes, that is completely normal. I think it's a kind of coping mechanism for when you are feeling so many emotions at once, or it can be because you just feel disconnected from reality, helpless, alone, etc.

It is okay not to feel emotions like happiness and sadness. Many people struggle with feeling emotionally numb, and it is not an easy thing to endure, so please be kind to yourself and patient with yourself as you learn to cope. Sometimes feelings of emotional numbness may be a sign of depression, or even a need to be able to express your feelings in a safe setting. I would encourage you to reach out to someone for help if you are feeling this way. Please keep in mind that you are not alone in this! :)

Yes, this is completely normal! Unfortunately, we live in a society and media space that imposes toxic positivity on us and says that we literally have to be happy all the time, otherwise our life is terrible. But this is not the case. You don't owe anyone anything. Living a good life doesn't necessarily mean feeling happy. This includes the development of stress tolerance skills, acceptance, and the development of empathy, the ability to help and accept help, the ability to endure painful emotions, the search for yourself and your business. And it's all a long and difficult path. I'm sure you can handle everything! Do not feel guilty for your apathetic state in a depressive episode or for stress, painful emotions, searching for yourself, which often takes a lot of time. This is okay!

I’m feeling suicidal, but I have no one to talk to. I can’t call any hotlines or anything like that because of my severe social phobia and there doesn’t seem to be anywhere I can chat to someone. Where can I get some help and feel safe doing this?
