One might be scared of loud noises because they felt fear when a loud noise occurred. For example, I once felt really scared whilst watching a film and a loud bang happened in my house and now everytime a loud noise similar to the bang happens I feel fear. This is possibly due to conditioning when an individual associates a stimulus (loud noise) with a particular response. Another reason you may be scared of loud noises is because you may have seen other people being scared of loud noises and this has led you to also be scared of loud noises. This is perfectly normal and is known as vicarious reinforcement.
