People tend to like what they are used to because it makes them feel comfortable. If they are out in public or visiting someone's house and the people around them are acting differently they may just be unsure how to react not even trying to be judgmental.

People like to judge others by what they themselves lack. They want to find anything seemingly wrong to them, something that doesn't fit the status quo, and pick at it until it becomes an issue. Being a "loud family" means many things to many different people.
