They have lived longer, so they have had more experiences. However, they do not know everything. Maybe they feel there age makes them wiser.

Perhaps you might need to think in their perspective. That they are older, more experienced and were also once your age. They know what it's like to be you but you don't know what it's like to be them.

Parents normally may often think they know everything because of their age and how they have the authority over their own children. But there is times, more than often in fact, that they don't know everything. Kids just often misinterpret. If a child asks their parents why they think they know everything, their is a high chance they will say they don't, they just want whats best for their child.

Parents dont think they know everything.
Parents apply troubleshooting to situations based on their experiences.
The way they troubleshoot might not suit with present generation scenarios. Reason why you might not be too keen on following them. But just because one way doesnt solve the problem, doesnt mean all their solutions are flawed.
Their choice of Troubleshooting with people are almost always flawless. Something you should know.
Pick up the good things from people around you. Leave out the bad.

Generally parents will be the first to admit they don't know everything. Unlike their children who, when younger, often think they do.
What parents do know however is more than children, and have at least twice the life experience of someone in their late teens.
They also know that when they were their childrens age, they thought they knew everything too. While it is rarely well received, the things parents tell their kids to do is almost always because they don't want them making the same mistakes they did.

Parents think they know everything because they have experienced a lot of thing we are going through or are about to go through. Sometimes they might be wrong but even if they are we should at least listen to their opinions because a lot of time they have something useful to say.

Everybody assumes they know something and we all grew up with different experiences. That doesn't mean they're right, it's just part of growing up. Just learn, be wise and be open minded. You'll surprise yourself that someday you can easily understood others.
