Why do kids call their parents by their first name?

Because they feel like they connect to their parents like a friend rather than a parent. This is ok if the parents are ok with it. Maybe they never developed a mother/father connection to them.

Children sometimes start to call there parents by there first name mostly in there teenage years. It often happens because the child is upset by something and the parent has something to do with it. Now, if that starts to happen, you need to confront you child and talk about it. But, you have to do it gently.

I do it because it is a boundry I put up between us. It helps me to have a relationship with them without the emotional baggage that comes with my family. I think some others might to it because it is funny. I'm sure people have their own reasons!

Some parents and children prefer calling their parents by their first name, I guess it’s beacuse it makes them feel more grown up.

Because some parents raise their children that way. Or because a child got adopted and isn't comfortable with calling them mum & dad (or mum&mum or dad&dad)

Because of the good bond they have. You call people outside your family by their last name, because it shows a certain amount of respect, but also distance, which shouldn't be in a family relationship

Possibly the parents feel strange using the names "Mom" and "Dad" and see their kids as not just offspring, but good friends.

Well kids in early ages repeat all what they heard so if they hear someone else calling their parents by their names they'll surly call them the same
