My parents emotionally abused me throughout my childhood, and I'm definitely affected by it. We've never had much of a relationship, and I don't know how to talk to them about how I feel about them?

Yeah! It's tough growing up with strict parents who vanished our emotional part. But as you grow up you have definitely find some sweet corner of your parents. Once you clearly figure out their sweet corner it's easy to communicate with them. You probably know about their mood swings, their core issues and etc. In a matured way, talk by keeping their issues and soft corner at front and while conversation put your thoughts about them. As they were in good mood they would think over it and not take it as their ego. Because you know your parents well so you also gather ideas to speak to them.

Always talk it out to understand both sides of the story.
It will be hard at 1st, but once u get into it, it will get better.
Try to limit contact as well if they are still emotionally abusing you.
You can also look for a friend or someone close to talk to to go through the emotions with..
