I'm telling my parents about my sexual abuse, that I suffered from my bother, after my younger sister informed me he raped her as well. Is it my fault for not speaking up as a kid?

Usually kids don't speak up about the abuse they have to go through because of fear. How can anyone blame those tiny souls for the abuse they bear? Your brother is at fault and he should be there to care for you and your sister. But he didn't and that's his fault. Now, that you are telling your parents about this, let's see if you and your sister can get justice for this. You and your sister is so brave to go through this and I'm so sorry.

Oh dear no. You are doing the right thing! It is never late. Now you are amazing , it takes a lot of courage to do the right thing. It certainly would not have been easy for you, right? Now your sister is going to be safe! Thanks to you! He could have caused further harm! *virtual hugs* what you should know is that rape is a serious offence, and you have the right to oppose such hideous actities. I agree to this as well that you could have protected your sister sooner, but nonetheless, you are really brave and doing the right thing.

It's important for you to understand that the sexual abuse you and your sister suffered are neither of your faults. It's possible that you were scared as a child, whether that may have been your brother or of your parents not believing you or perhaps any judgment you feel you might've faced as a result. Regardless, what happened was not your fault. In fact, you are very brave for deciding to talk to your parents about the trauma you suffered. I sincerely hope that they can be empathetic and connect both you and your sister to the proper resources to help you recover from such a traumatic experience.
