You can't tell. But you can speak to doctor and get a leaflet to find out the different types of dementia. People might not have dementia but might be forgetful due to low iron which makes their memory poor. Or anxiety which makes it difficult to remember things.

Only a licensed physician can diagnose accurately. Try not to self-diagnose from the internet and seek professional help.

well a couple thing that could point to dementia are asking the same questions over and over again, becoming lost in places she knows well, not being able to follow directions, getting very confused about time, people and places, not taking care of herself (eating poorly, not bathing or being unsafe) if something here seems similar to what your mother is experiencingthen dementia might be a possibility

You can find out in the DSM what are the symptoms and criteria to consider that a person suffers from dementia. http://www.alz.org/professionals_and_researchers_diagnostic_procedures.asp In any case, i think the best thing to do is to seek help to a professional and qualified person such as a doctor.

It's very hard to diagnose someone without being qualified, and you may end up more worried than you need to be. The best thing you can do if you have concerns is to see a professional. If your mother does have dementia, you will be able to get more support that way rather than not knowing for sure.

The best way to tell is going to a doctor and having them diagnose it. It can be scary, but at least you know what is going on.

The best way to find out if your mother has dementia would be by obtaining a medical consultation. There are many issues that can mimic or cause symptoms of dementia, but another underlying issue may be at play. Always consult a medical professional first.

I would advise if you are concerned about your mother having dementia you take her to the doctor to have her tested because dementia is serious. I am not a doctor so I can't tell you what signs to look for. All I can tell you is that a doctor will know what to look for.

The only way to tell if your mother suffers from dementia is to carry her to a doctor to properly assess her. Perhaps you can make an appointment and accompany her. If it turns out to be dementia then you can find out more about it from the doctor and plan out how to properly care for her. If it's not then he will still be able to address your concerns.
